Amanda Wicker was a pioneering dressmaker, educator, and entrepreneur who shaped Cleveland’s Black fashion community for more than five decades. She founded the Clarke School of Dressmaking and Fashion Design, where she trained generations of students in couture techniques and garment construction. Through her designs and annual fashion showcases, she used fashion as a tool for economic empowerment and community advancement.
